Car And Insurance In Mexico
The car rental companies in Mexico and insurance options can become annoying, so we show you some tips to get the best deal on car rental and car hire insurance.
Types of Rental Car Insurance
First there are two major forms of auto insurance to consider for your rental:
Car rental. Loss damage waiver / collision. This is insurance limits your financial liability for loss or damage to your car renta.Cubierta for others. Supplementary liability insurance covering civil liability, ie claims against you by the aggrieved person or damage to property caused by an accident with your rental car.
How do you work the car rental agencies in Mexico?
Here's where it gets "interesting". Laws vary from state to state (and the rules vary from company to company) which means that it is difficult to say exactly what may or may not already be covered.
Protection for your rental car
The choice of a sole income often means your basic income is provided without any level of auto insurance, that is, until you are responsible for more total losses of the car rental company, such as loss of use. If your rental company does not automatically include coverage for loss damage waiver / collision, you'll pay for it.
Protection of third party damage
As for civil liability, state law requires rental car companies include at least a minimum level of coverage, the exact amount of which varies from state to state. If you are unsure, call the car rental company and ask if the cover of this comes with all income and see if you feel comfortable with the level of coverage.
