Evolve Your Social Media Marketing - blog

Many people ask what is the best way to get into social media marketing - What do I do first? Twitter is important for us? How can I do? ... and so on. Of course there are many answers and routes to take depending on the type of business and where you are now with your presence on the Internet.

But - there is an approach that works well for most companies, and provides a bridge to allow you to evolve into social media and at the same time act as a hub and focus on other online marketing activities.

It's about building a blog. I'ma much bigger fan of your blog today and I really see them as the epicenter of all your web marketing - even more than your site. Your site is still essential as the ultimate destination for visitors and a means to convert them into buyers or inquiries, but the blog can be the driving force.

What will your blog do?

Below is a summary of how you can use the blog to drive social media and other web marketing activities. To create one is easy - as we discussed before using WordPress and TypePad blog and integrate within your domain is a simple process.

That's one of my favorite blogs and see all the ways you got constant communication with visitors - you can subscribe via e-mail, you can subscribe via RSS, you can socially bookmark, either way you connect to Facebook and Twitter ... .

The biggest problem most people have to decide what to blog about - but in reality there if you consider the volume of information your company public: -

New product information
-Industry Specific Information - new legislation, new trends
-Lectures and 'how to do'
- 'Tips and suggestions
-Case Studies
-Press

... And so on. In fact, every time your produce any type of content of communication consider your blog a receptacle for that - even your video clips.

Here is a schematic representation of your blog in the middle of the web marketing .....

The key thing, of course, is to make sure there is a value added content there - so a blog 'good' is just what we should talk. You can include all the other things, but to do so (as we do on this blog) you are giving some valuable information on how the lessons and 'how to' guides. This will ensure the people connecting to you (which obviously helps with SEO ) and sign up to receive information from you automatically - as shown on Seth's blog above.

Your blog and SEO

You can capture the 'long tail' like your blog - and, as we discussed earlier, you can build backlinks naturally.

Your Blog and Email Marketing

As we do, send a regular newsletter for people with back links to your blog where you stored the detailed content in question.

Your Blogs and Social Bookmarking

Giving people the opportunity to bookmarking your site to increase your visibility and backlinks - you could also proactively bookmark your messages in the most important sites (Digg, delicious, etc) - there is a complete list of about 125 of them here.

Your blog and your PR

Any press releases you send may be stored on your own blog and linked to the e-mail and social bookmarking sites. This too will help increase the value of your blog and SEO

Your Blogs and Social Media

They were all worried about Twitter and Facebook. If you do not have time to attend these events as we do and then link your blog directly to them. What happens when a blog is to be fed directly into Twitter and Facebook - allows you to save lots of time.

Your blog and videos

Upload your videos to your blog for a greater impact and also to help the visibility through search engines - courtesy of Google Universal Search, which should appear in the results of search engines - even publish them on YouTube

Thus, the key message is to integrate the blog with your website then use as a springboard to expand your online marketing and social media involved. Over time this will increase your visibility through search engines as well as all major social media sites .......
