Fingerprint Reader


A fingerprint reader, fingerprint reader and fingerprint reader is an electronic device that reads the biometric data of fingerprints of users for further processing. Fingerprint reader

A fingerprint reader compares the data obtained during the process of identification with the template stored in memory. If the probability that both belong to the same person is high enough the identification is positive, the process of establishing your permissions, otherwise the identification will be negative. The system should minimize both the probability that a user is not recognized (erroneous rejection rate, False Rejection Rate, FRR) as the probability that an impostor is accepted (false positive rate, False Acceptance Rate, FAR).

The user biometric templates can be stored on a central server or on the memory's own fingerprint reader. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages: if templates are stored in the reader the number of users is limited by the size of the reader's memory if stored on a central server system security depends on the central server reliability and lines of communication.

Biometric smart cards

The user biometric templates can also be stored in the memory of their smart card so that the fingerprint can be used as an additional or alternative identification.

Applications

The most important application areas of the fingerprint reader are:

Physical access control systems in areas reserved for open doors, and rooms and airport terminals. Auto theft protection, construction machinery, ships and aircraft. Access to computers, laptops, tablets, PDAs, mobile hard drives or USB memory modules. More and more devices and peripherals such as mice and keyboards are equipped with fingerprint reader.
