This beautiful country is located in the equatorial zone and the Andes mountain range gives the country a varied topography, ranging from tropical rain forests and plains to deserts and eternal snows. The NYT's travel section received comments from its readers suggesting places for holidays. Istanbul was in first place with 211 recommendations, while Colombia was 149, up from Costa Rica, Seoul, Buenos Aires, Cape Town and Shanghai, among other places in the world.
Readers of Colombia who bowed as recommended destination for the country praised the beautiful scenery, beaches, city infrastructure such as Bogota and Medellin, food, friendly people and culture that permeates every corner.
Among the recommended cities are Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and Santa Marta classified as sophisticated, safe, cosmopolitan and full of history to teach the world.
