Here's what you do:

1. Make a list. Yes ... you need to make a list of everyone you know. Have you heard this before ... the money list ... and it is absolutely true. Make sure you have their address, phone number and e-mail, if possible, and any other information you may have on them.

2. Send a personal letter to each of them. Tell them that you are now in the mortgage business and are ready to help in any way we can. Automate the list on your computer to make this function as simple as possible.

3. Follow-up with a phone call a few days later. Reintroduce yourself and your business. Ask if you have questions about credit and / or mortgage. Ask questions that help you fill in the blanks and take lots of notes. Offer your private number (phone number) if you have any questions.

4. Send a note handwritten "Thank You" to express your gratitude for the time spent with you and the information provided. Very few people use "Thank You" cards today ... You will be remembered for their use.

5. Send greeting cards, greeting cards, postcards, articles and information on industry information and every month there after. You'll eventually be accepted as an expert and trusted advisor, because of the valuable information that continues to provide.

6. Never stop building your list. Set a personal goal to add new contacts every day and follow the same steps for each addition to your list.

This is the beginning of the database and your new mortgage business. Keep a list, update, and continually add to it. Properly managed database will result in mortgage referrals each month. The largest database, the more references you get.
